Tommy Rettas is an accomplished two sport athlete, playing both football and baseball at the highest competitive levels for his class year round.
Currently residing in his hometown of West Palm Beach, Florida, Rettas has made a name for himself as one of the elite 2030 Quarterbacks in the State of Florida, winning the overall MVP for the QB1 Nation Shootout for the South Florida region while leading his West Boynton 14U travel team to the Treasure Coast Conference Championship.
As a select Quarterback in his class, Rettas has a compact, lightening quick release that he utilizes often when extending plays while moving out of the pocket. He generates a lot of velocity on the ball enabling him to make passes with pinpoint accuracy down the field of play, already displaying three distinct velocity tiers with the catchable deep ball, intermediate ropes, and frozen rope comebacks clocked at +40 MPH.
Over the last season, Rettas has developed an elite pre-snap read identification capability, consistently diagnosing Cover 0-4 zone and man coverages while immediately recognizing middle of the field open/closed defenses. His ability to tag hot routes and look off defenders during his progressions is hard to ignore as he rarely stares down a primary read. Assessing the full field with fast eyes, Rettas has developed an uncanny awareness to find the open receiver and routinely stands confidently in the pocket under pressure. Rettas has an advanced understanding of Glance RPO and choice routes for his age and routinely manipulates safeties with shoulder fakes on mesh route concepts.
Rettas’ pocket management and play creation is fueled by his solid balance and base width with an ability to quickly set his feet before pivoting to different side of the field. He naturally climbs and slides with intent to manage pocket drift and has an explosive second reaction burst that has limited the number of sacks he has taken this season. He commands the field with confidence and leads offenses down the field with poise and composure no matter the situation.
